make a cool calendar

Here is a link to a cool 12 sided calendar. Sure you might have to be good at origami to make it but it will look great on your desk. By the way you can make it in English you don't have have it in Chinese like in the picture (Unless you want it in Chinese Harmony).

online

I have noticed a trend in some bloggers lately - there is a trend to post the words of inspirational heartfelt songs. So here's my attempt to be cool like everyone else with a Brad Paisley song.

I work down at the pizza pit
And I drive and old Hundai
I still live with my mom and dad
I 5'3 and overweight

I'm a Sci-fi fantatic
Mild athsmatic
Never been to 2nd base
But there's a whole nother me
That you need to see
Go check out MySpace

Cause online I'm down in Hollywood
I'm 6'5 and I look damn good
I drive a Mazarati
I'm a black belt in Karate
And I love a good glass of wine

It turns girls on that I'm mysterious
I tell 'em I don't want nothing serious
Cause even on a slow day I can have a three way
Chat with two women at one time

I'm so much cooler online
So much cooler online

I get home, I kiss my mom
And she fixes me a snack
I head down to my basement bedroom
And fire up the mac

In real life, the only time I
Ever even been to LA
Was when I got the chance with the marching band
To play tuba in the Rose Parade.

Online I live in Malibu
I posed for Calvin Kline, I've been in GQ
I'm single and I'm rich
And I got a set of six pack abs that'll blow your mind

It turns girls on that I'm mysterious
I tell 'em I don't want nothing serious
Cause even on a slow day I can have a three way
Chat with two women at one time

I'm so much cooler online
Yeah I'm cooler online

When you got my kinda stacks, it's hard to get a date
Let alone a real girlfriend
But I grow another foot
And I lose a bunch of weight everytime I log in

Online I'm out in Hollywood
I'm 6'5 and I look damn good
Even on a slow day, I can have a three way
Chat with two women at one time

I'm so much cooler online
Yeah I'm cooler online
I'm so much cooler online
Yeah I'm cooler online

throw away the rubber for your wallet

If you're anything like my dad. And I'm sure your not. You have a wallet that you can use to prop up a car to change your oil. Well, Just One Card Club has come along. You can put the barcodes of 8 cards onto one card. You just print it out and you need 7 less cards in your wallet.

Thanks to Dumb Little Man for the tip.

forecasted 39

The forecast for the Hat on friday is 39 degrees. I am thankful for A/C!!!! For those who are Celsius challenged that works out to be 102.2 degrees F. I thought those kinds of temperatures are reserved for those "travellers' forecasts" at the vacation destinations. I guess this makes us a vacation destination - just look at the beaches around here :~) So all you Westcoasters out there, cross the rockies and try out our A/C.

normal, yet not

So today as we are driving past the mall Bonnie says "hey look, Translink Buses" Low and behold 3 brand new grey Translink buses were sitting in the parking lot of the Medicine Hat mall. Bonnie didn't even think they looked out of places at first. They are really cool looking; the front doors are not symmetrical and the back doors are huge. I was thinking of hopping on to see if it was a 3 zone fair to get to the lower mainland. As we were reminiscing about the good old days, the 3 bus convoy headed out onto the #1 and started heading west. We figure that they must be driving from the New Flyer plant in Winnipeg. I think it is very cool that I have seen the new buses before anyone in Vancouver has seen them.

Education

I read this on Darrell's blog today.

According to a news report, a certain private school in Washington was recently faced with a unique problem. A number of 12-year-old girls were beginning to use lipstick and would put it on in the bathroom. That was fine, but after they put on their lipstick they would press their lips to the mirror leaving dozens of little lip prints.

Every night the maintenance man would remove them and the next day the girls would put them back.

Finally, the principal decided that something had to be done. She called all the girls to the bathroom and met them there with the maintenance man.

She explained that all these lip prints were causing a major problem for the custodian who had to clean the mirrors every night.

To demonstrate how difficult it had been to clean the mirrors, she asked the maintenance man to show the girls how much effort was required. He took out a long-handled squeegee, dipped it in the toilet, and cleaned the mirror with it. Since then, there have been no lip prints on the mirror.

There are teachers …

And then there are educators.

mike holmes wannabe?

So do you think you are a DIYer since you watch Holmes on Homes or TLC 24 hrs/day? Well there are some DIY video websites out there. No more looking through a book to figure out how to pour the foundation on your new million dollar mansion, now you can watch it on the internet. Courtesy of Dumb Little Man.

cool stuff

Throw this location into Google Earth and zoom in a bit.
50° 0′38.20″N 110° 6′48.32″W
This is a cool geographical formation that has been dubbed as the Alberta Indian. It looks like the head of a Native in headdress listening to an ipod (the ipod headphones are actually a road leading to a gas well). The formation is found between Medicine Hat and the SK border.

sick quiz

OK here is a bad quiz. There are 10 photos and you have to decide if the person is a serial killer or a computer programmer. I got 8 out of 10.

ICBC & BC NDP Halftruths

Over the past few years every 9 months or so I used to hear the dire warnings from the BC NDP and ICBC stating that the consumers cost for private insurance in the other provinces are growing exponentially. Only the public insurers of BC and Sask can keep insurance rates from growing rapidly. It is always doom and gloom for those poor citizens of provinces with private insurance.

What ICBC and the NDP forgot to say is that if the private insurance rates doubled they still wouldn't be close to the ICBC rate!

Today we had all the necessary out of province paperwork done and went into get our insurance. Being good drivers ICBC (& a private insurer for our comprehensive) gave us an exceptional rate for both our vehicles of $444/month and our private tenant insurance was $41/month. Well, for both our vehicles and tenant insurance we are now paying $157/month. That is a savings of $328/month or $3936/year!!!! And both of our vehicle now have business insurance instead of just one.

The best part is that our broker is still trying to get us some more discounts.

Same people
Same vehicles
Same claims history
Same driving records
Four Grand less!

different latitude, different attitude

You would expect that the major stores would be the same no matter where you go, but no! We're not talking McDonalds here - the fries are just as salty here as they are in Burnaby. I'm talking about Shell and Stupidstore. I have been a diehard Shell user for years - mostly because of the Air Miles. Well, in the Hat Shell does not have Pay at the Pump (Gasp) So I now find myself fueling up at Safeway instead. I have always disliked the Real Canadian Superstore - not only do you have to pay for your bags, but the stores are always crowded, long lines and the produce is always brutal. Well, not in the Hat. OK they still charge for bags, but the rest of my complaints do not exist here.
