One of the best (or worst) parts of the Stampede is the food. Sure most fairs have similar concessions, but the first week of July brings out my need for greasy expensive food. What other fairs can lay claim to having an official barbecue sauce? (it says it right on the Bulls-Eye bottle) Or an official chocolate bar? (Eatmore is a good long chew) Here's my must have menu for a day at the Stampede.
Draft Root Beer, straight from the keg.
Back bacon on a bun or beef on a bun. The back bacon has been a bit harder to find in recent years, but the beef on a bun is a great second choice.
Of course you need a bag (or two) of mini doughnuts.
Dole whip for those really hot days.
Corndogs, there's nothing like a deep fried corndog - the ones at 7-ELEVEN are no substitute.
Wedickville is a cheap stop to fill up on smokies, slurpies/pop, ice cream and whatever the other rotating sponser is selling.
Don't be scared of the grease!! It's only 10 days out of the whole year.
