Why does it cost more to do it yourself?
Today I was forced to use Ticketmaster (notice there is no link -- this is a rant). My family is coming to town so we are going to go see the Giants play the Huricanes on Tuesday. As I do for most other sporting events, I go to their website or go to their office to buy ticketes -- thereby avoiding the (in)convienience charges. Well, my family is not big enough yet to buy from the Giants office they only sell to groups larger than 15. So they sent me to Ticketenslaver err I mean Ticketmaster. I drive home to my computer and logged on to Ticketgouger. Giants tickets are $16 - A great price for an evening of entertainment. But NO, Ticketmonopoly charges $3 for the convienience of being able to buy tickets from them, not only that, they charge $4 for the privaledge of me using my own paper and ink to print and produce their ticket and two very colourful ads at home. They charge less if I would have picked up the tickets at the will call window. HUH?!? what kind of logic is that? My $16 ticket now costs $23 almost 50% more because Ticketscoundral printed, oops no they didn't do that; took my money instead of the Giants.
After that encounter I decided to visit Famous Player (notice no link again) to buy movie tickets. (I saw an ad at a movie we were at and thought I would try it since last time we went the movie was sold out.) Anyways, They also charge to allow you to use your own paper and ink to print a ticket.
Anyways, that's my rant for the day.
Support your local entertainment, but don't support their stupid policies.
By the way, I never bought the movie tickets, we're going to take our chances at the theatre tonight.
