Tis the season to be CRANKY fa la la la la la la la la

A California family has stopped their annual Christmas display because of Grinch-like neighbours. For six years, Alan and Bonnie Aerts transformed their Silicon Valley home into a Christmas wonderland, complete with surfing Santa, jumbo candy canes and a carol-singing chorus of mannequins. Because of complaints they now have a lone Christmas decoration, a 10 feet tall Grinch, who points at the neighbours who started the petition.

It's a crying shame when a little bit of the magic of Christmas gets sucked out of the season. On the other hand, I suppose the neighbors do have a point... It would get pretty tiresome to have your quiet suburban street turned into a mid-rush hour thoroughfare. Remember going to see Wayne Smith's displays in Calgary? Brilliant, but definitely crowded!

On that note, maybe this cheery couple in San Jose could take a tip from good ol' Mr. Smith... Why not put their talents to work in an area accessible to all? Wayne Smith already has his display up and running at one of the local garden centres.
